Why did you decide to study the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)?
I have the opportunity to help children prepare for success in their future as well as to give them an opportunity to enjoy childhood. I know I will find this very rewarding.
What is your favourite unit/subject? Why?
The Music and Visual Arts combined unit has been my favourite so far. It gave me plenty of insight into how to teach these areas as well as giving me confidence in my own abilities, which I didn’t think I had.
Highlights and challenges of your study/experience so far?
The highlights have been the professional experience placements. They have confirmed that teaching is definitely the profession I want to be in. Each assignment is challenging, however, I have found staff and peer support very helpful.
Any advice for future students?
Time management is key.
Where you would like to see yourself in 5 years time?
As a teacher in a child care centre.
Any other comments?
I would never have pictured myself at university a few years ago and I am grateful to the person who encouraged me to give it a go. As well as getting me closer to a career that I am very much anticipating, it is also proving to be a very personally rewarding experience.
