Course you are enrolled in:
Master of Education (Research)
What is the topic of your research?
Enhancing student numeracy outcomes through Professional Learning for secondary school teachers
What study did you complete prior to becoming a research student?
BEd (sec: math) and MEd both through my home-town university, University of Canberra.
Why did you decide to undertake your Research/PhD at the University of Tasmania?
I received a great piece of advice from a high-profile Education researcher: find your supervisors and enrol in their university! I knew through reading relevant literature on my topic that Kim and Rosemary were the best in the country, so it was a natural step to approach them and then enrol in UTas.
Highlights of your research/experience so far?
Talking to others about it and hearing them say it's interesting, important and they would like to know what I find out!
Any advice for future students?
Don't fall pregnant during your research - it really interrupts things hahaha. Seriously though; probably to make sure you stay positive and that you recognise that your research focus will probably change as you read and learn more.
Where you would like to see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully finished studying, probably still teaching but definitely still learning.
