One of the challenges in structural design is to reduce the amount of material in a building which can be achieved by using high strength materials. Further reduction in material usage can be made by using prestress and hollow core in concrete slabs. The aim of this research is to investigate the behaviour of prestressed light weight monolithic hollow concrete slabs and to create a simple methodology in designing and calculating such type of structures. In this research new sections of hollow concrete slabs will be proposed with the help of FE analysis and laboratory experiments.
