This page is a resource for current higher degree by research students within the School of English, Journalism and European Languages
Expressions of interest may be lodged at any time and should be submitted on the Expression of Interest Research Assistants form and sent to the Head of School, Professor Ralph Crane.
Research Assistant positions are project based and in most cases linked directly to internal or external research funding. In all cases the appointment will be made by the Head of School after consultation with the relevant grant holder or project leader.
It is School policy to appoint, where appropriate, its own higher-degree students to casual and short-term positions that may be available. We welcome expressions of interest from postgraduates; however, we caution that although obtaining experience as a research assistant is a reasonable expectation, it is by no means a right. There are only limited positions available each year and appointments will be made on merit in accordance with the selection criteria.
The Head of School may consult the relevant postgraduate supervisor before an appointment is made.
