Pre-requisites:	Intermediate level English or Pathway English 4 (As a rule this unit is available only to students currently enrolled in the English Language Centre and to residents of Tasmania. This course will provide you with the skills you need for the IELTS test as well as other tests of English language proficiency.

IELTS Test Preparation is designed to help you develop test-taking strategies that will assist you in maximising your test score for a range of purposes including academic study or professional registration. The course includes:

• Diagnosing existing strengths and weaknesses
• Identifying individual high-value strategies for success
• Developing specific listening, speaking, reading and writing skills
• Improving confidence by developing a direct, natural approach to test-taking
• Ways to develop independent learning and techniques for self-correction
• Activities to encourage critical and analytical thinking

With a focus on teaching strategies required for success, you are encouraged to develop a range of skills designed to build confidence and maximise scores. The course is supported by a range of print and digital resources and is underpinned by a teaching methodology that combines classroom teaching with interactive web-based independent learning activities.

The UTAS English Language Centre is an official IELTS testing centre and tests are available on both the Hobart and Launceston campuses.
