If you have been excluded from your course due to unsatisfactory progress you will be notified by letter and by email. Your letter will be uploaded to your eStudentCentre account.
Check to see if your letter has arrived in eStudentCentre under Enrolment > Documents.
A comment will be placed on your faculty record stating that you have been excluded from your course. This comment appears on your official academic transcript and is a permanent part of your record.
Being excluded means you are not permitted to continue your enrolment in your course. You will be withdrawn from your course at the end of the appeal period if you have not appealed. If you lodge an appeal against your exclusion, you will remain enrolled pending the outcome of your appeal.
The usual period of exclusion is 12 months and you will need to re-apply for admission.
If you believe you have good academic reasons for appealing the decision to exclude you from your course, you may lodge an appeal against exclusion by submitting a written statement explaining the reasons which have contributed to your unsatisfactory academic performance.
Your appeal must be received within twenty (20) working days of the date of your exclusion letter and should be addressed to:
Director, Governance and Legal
University of Tasmania
Private Bag 45
Hobart Tas 7001
Your appeal request will be acknowledged and your request will be considered by the faculty academic progress review committee.
All appeals will be dealt with confidentially so you should present your case in full, attaching all relevant documents. You may present your appeal before the committee (if you wish). You will be notified in writing of the outcome of your appeal.
Full details on the appeal process appear on the back of the letter informing you of your exclusion.
As you have been excluded from your current course only you may apply for admission to a different course. You should address your exclusion from your previous course as part of your application, and indicate how you believe the new course may suit you better.
When the period of exclusion has finished you may apply for admission to the excluded course. Your application for re-admission to that course will be considered by the relevant faculty admissions committee. Factors that will be taken into account in reviewing your application are:
