What we do:

The UTAS Media Office began as stand-alone office in July 2007 and is responsible for a range of media-related activities designed to inform the public about the University of Tasmania's vision, its achievements in research and teaching, its expert commentators, and its engagement with the community through a range of events. We do this by: Writing and issuing media alerts and media releases Planning and coordinating media events in liaison with academic and general staff Offering a central contact for media inquiries to UTAS Liaising with other UTAS communications staff at the Menzies Research Institute, Australian Maritime College, and UTAS schools and faculties. Holding media training workshops for UTAS academic staff Producing the monthly Unitas newsletter Maintaining the online UTAS Expert Database Monitoring media coverage for UTAS Implementing the UTAS Media Policy.

Prepare a media release for a UTAS event, research update, or a free public lecture:

Organise media training for academic staff in a school or faculty:

Place a newspaper advertisement, or for information on UTAS branding and marketing:

Post an online Classified or What's On event:

• Check with administration staff within your School to see if they have access to the online database
• Or email details of the event/classified ad to Media.Office@utas.edu.au

Have photographs taken at a Faculty/School or Institute event:

• This is the responsibility of the event organiser, but Media Office staff do take photographs for major UTAS events and UniTAS

Get information about Alumni, the UTAS Foundation, Scholarships and the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal:
