If your previous study has not been in an English speaking environment, you are required to demonstrate your ability by showing the results of an approved test.
All methods of meeting UTAS English language entry requirements have a validity of two years.
UTAS Foundation Studies accepts students from all parts of the globe. Check this list to see if you have appropriate qualifications.

| People's Republic of China | Senior Middle 2 |
| Singapore | GCE 'O' Level (Forecast results will be accepted) |
| Taiwan | Senior High School 2 |
| Thailand | Mattayom 5 |
| Vietnam | Year 11 |
| Other countries | Assessed individually |
If you have an IELTS score of 5.0 (or equivalent), the Foundation Access pathway provides 10 weeks of English study prior to the start of your Foundation Studies Program. Once you have successfully completed 10 weeks of English, you will have direct entry to Foundation Studies without having to take another IELTS test.
