The Tasmanian devil is the world's largest surviving marsupial carnivore and is only found in the wild in Australia's island State of Tasmania.
The species has suffered a major population decline and is now listed as Endangered. This decline is due to an infectious cancer known as Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD).
Latest figures show that 80% of Tasmanian devils have been lost from the wild. Listed as an Endangered Species, the Tasmanian devil faces a bleak future unless we can act now to assure the species in the wild.
The Save the Tasmanian Devil Program was established in 2003 as the official, national response to the threat posed by DFTD. The Australian and Tasmanian Governments and the University of Tasmania have established this partnership to protect this keystone species.
Funds are vital to support the immediate research and management activities of the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program.
