Save the Tasmanian
Devil Research Scholarships & Grants
The University of Tasmania, through the Tasmanian
Wildlife Research Advisory Committee (TWRAC) allocates
scholarships and grants for research into all aspects
of the Tasmanian devil facial tumour disease. These
awards are funded from public donations received through
the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal by the UTAS Foundation
and the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program.
Research
grants, valued at up to $25 000 each, are available
to assist with local, national and international projects
endorsed by the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program.
Scholarships are available to honours and postgraduate
students at UTAS undertaking research related to TDFTD.
International students are eligible to apply.
Applications
for Research Grants and Scholarships are accepted on
an ongoing basis, to be considered at the next available
funding round.
Submissions
for consideration at the next funding round must be
received by
30 June 2009
Funding Round closing
dates for 2008/2009 are:
Round 1 28/29 February
(for allocation March)
Round 2 30 June (for allocation July)
Round 3 31 October (for allocation December)
NB If dates fall on the weekend, applications
will be accepted up to the Monday after the weekend
date

Tasmanian Devil Research Grants
Applications from individuals and organisations
can be made for a grant up to the value of $25 000, to assist
with research costs for projects endorsed by the Save the
Tasmanian Devil Program. Decisions will be made on a case
by case basis according to research priorities and as funding
allows. Application

QANTAS Tasmanian Devil Research
Scholarship
This scholarship may be awarded up to Australian
Postgraduate Award (APA) level for up to 3 ½ years
(currently $19,231) or as top up funding to another scholarship
(eg. APA) with an additional TWRAC discretionary contribution
towards research costs. Application

QANTAS Tasmanian Devil Honours
Scholarship
This scholarship is valued at $5,000 for one
year of full-time study. The TWRAC may at its discretion award
an additional amount of $2,000 towards research costs. Applications
for Honours Scholarships must be submitted for Round 3 consideration
to commence studies in Semester One of the following year
and for Round 2 Consideration to commence stduies in Semester
Two of the same year.Application
