Kate is Associate Lecturer at the School. She teaches KGA520 Qualitative Research Methods, with a focus on fostering critical thinking through qualitative research literature. In the past she has taught KGA223 Environmental Management (2010) and KGA278/378 Wilderness and Natural Area Management (2008).

Kate’s research interests are fourfold. She is engaged within cultural geography’s hybrid turn, and is currently exploring the more-than-human potential of Jacques Ranciere’s political thought. She remains preoccupied with the constituting role of place and how it is possible to know self in relation to place (or place in relation to self) through qualitative inquiry. Her work is informed by thinkers within the field of ecophilosophy, particularly Arne Naess’s gestalt ontology.
