Controlled Environment Facility - Research

Research

The School of Plant Science has five main research themes in the broad areas of cell biology, developmental genetics, ecology and biodiversity, forest genetics and aquatic botany. [More details about these areas]

Glasshouse based research encompasses most of these areas. Our broad range of highly adaptable environments allows almost any combination of environmental variables to be simulated and reproduced. We also have highly specialized world-class facilities for specific areas such as photomorphogenic (responses to light) research (e.g. absolute dark rooms with highly accurate temperature control, monochromatic LED lighting) and accurate ecological facilities including a series of state of the art climate controlled natural light glasshouse units with the ability to accurately control CO2 levels. This is particularly useful for climate change studies.

A collection of typical research examples is available in the other examples link.
