Mr Okto Irianto, Assistant Deputy Minister of Maritime Services and formally head of Indonesian Customs in Jakarta, was hosted by Professor Shuhong Chai, Acting Principal, Australian Maritime College (AMC) and Ms Sara Franz, Director, Global Engagement, at the University of Tasmania Sandy Bay Campus on the 6 September 2018.
Mr Irianto was accompanied by Mr Peter Craven, Managing Director, Katama Global, and Chair, Tasmanian Branch of the Australia Indonesia Business Council.
Discussions included the AMC’s capacity to assist in developing education and training programs. The University of Tasmania is recognised as a provider of choice globally in maritime education and training, offering strong partnerships with industry and governments to provide quality education and training pathways, supporting every level of workforce development in marine and maritime engineering. Additionally, the AMC Maritime Simulation Centre offers real-time simulation technology for learning and training without the cost and risk of using real vessels.
