Election for a Casual Vacancy on the Standing Academic Committee
A casual vacancy exists for one (1) elected Head of School or Director of National Centre on the Standing Academic Committee for a term until 31 December 2013 (the remainder of the previous member's term).

Election for a Casual Vacancy on the University Learning & Teaching Committee
Academic Senate has four elected representatives on the University Learning & Teaching Committee. A casual vacancy exists for one (1) elected representative on this Committee for a term until 31 December 2014 (the remainder of the previous member's term). A member of academic staff must be nominated by, but does not necessarily have to be from, the membership of Academic Senate.

Election for a Casual Vacancy on the University Admissions Policy Committee
Academic Senate has two elected representatives on the Univesrity Admissions Policy Committee. A casual vacancy exists for one (1) elected representative on this Committee for a term until 31 December 2013 (the remainder of the previous member's term). A member of academic staff must be nominated by and from the members of Academic Senate.

Outcome of Elections
Chair of Academic Senate
Professor Dianne Nicol has been elected for the position of Chair of Academic Senate for a three-year term until 31 December 2015.
Deputy Chair of Academic Senate
Associate Professor Mark Dibben has been elected unopposed for the position of Deputy Chair of Academic Senate for the remainder of the current Deputy Chair's term which expires on 31 December 2013.
Standing Academic Committee
Professor Jim Reid has been elected as the elected academic staff member of Academic Senate to the Standing Academic Committee for a one year term until 31 December 2013.
Professor Susan Dodds and Associate Professor Greg Dicinoski have been elected unopposed as the elected Dean and the elected Head of School to the Standing Academic Committee respectively, for one-year terms until 31 December 2013.
At the close of nominations for an elected Associate Dean on the Standing Academic Committee, no nominations were received. Associate Professor Justin Walls was appointed as the elected Associate Dean to the Standing Academic Committee by the Nominations Committee for a one-year term until 31 December 2013.
With the finalisation of the Tasmania Univesrity Union elections, Ms Alex West has been elected Student President member of the Standing Academic Committee for 2013.
The Vice-Chancellor's nominee from ex-officio members is the University Librarian, Ms Jane Long.
Six Female Academic Staff Members
Following the close of nominations on 29 November 2012 an electronic ballot was conducted to elect six female Academic Staff members to Academic Senate for two-year terms expiring on 31 December 2014. The following female Academic Staff members were elected to Academic Senate:

- Dr Andrea Carr
- Assoc Prof Kate Crowley
- Prof Emily Hilder
- Dr Ceridwen Owen
- Assoc Prof Janette Radford
Five Male Academic Staff Members
Following the close of nominations on 29 November 2012 an electronic ballot was conducted to elect five male Academic Staff members to Academic Senate for two-year terms expiring on 31 December 2014. The following male Academic Staff members were elected to Academic Senate:

- Assoc Prof Martin Grimmer
- Dr John Kenny
- Dr Adam Russell
- Prof Paulo de Souza
