Freddy Dayan Prize in French (Rule 15)

Freddy Elie Dayan was a member of the Department of Modern Languages from 1965 until his retirement in 1982. After his retirement, colleagues, friends and former students of Mr Dayan donated $1,000 to the University. The donors asked that the gift be used to endow a prize in honour of Mr Dayan, and that the prize be awarded to a student in French. The Council of the University agreed to the foundation of a prize in the terms declared in the Rules made at that time. However, because of changes in circumstances, Council now makes these revised Rules.

Rules
  1. The amount of $1,000, together with any interest from time to time, forms the endowment of a prize to be called the Freddy Dayan Prize in French.
  2. The prize shall be awarded annually to the student obtaining the best result in French 1 (HEF100).
  3. The annual value of the prize is $100, or any other value determined by Council from time to time, having regard to the income from the endowment.
