Ida Williams Prizes (Rule 40)
Mrs Ida Florence Elizabeth Tregear, BA (nee Williams), gave the University a sum of $140 and asked that the sum be used to endow an annual prize (to be called the Ida Williams Prize) to be awarded in any subject or subjects that Council from time to time decides. The University Council agreed to the foundation of 2 prizes. The terms of the prizes are set out in these rules.
Rules
- The sum of $140, together with any interest from time to time, forms the endowment of 2 prizes to be called the Ida Williams Prizes.
- One prize will be awarded annually to –
- (s34) the student who shows greatest proficiency in Calculus 1S and Mathematics Applications 1; and
- (r55) the student who shows greatest proficiency in the unit English 1.
- The Scholarships Management Committee may withhold one or both of the prizes in any year if there is no student of sufficient merit.
- The Scholarships Management Committee will set the annual value of the award from time to time, having regard to the income from the endowment.
- Any earlier rules for these prizes are revoked
