The School of Chemistry Golden Anniversary Prize (Rule 133)
To mark its 50th year in the Chemistry Building on the Sandy Bay campus of the University of Tasmania, the School of Chemistry through the University of Tasmania Foundation raised funds from its industrial collaborators, past staff members, graduates, and supporters in the community. The School has determined to use some of these funds to endow an annual prize for the student who produces the best doctoral thesis in that academic year.
Academic Senate of the University has agreed to create such a prize. These are the rules for the prize.
RULES
An amount of $14,000, together with any income from time to time, forms the endowment of the School of Chemistry Golden Anniversary Prize. The prize will be awarded annually to a graduate researcher in the School of Chemistry who submits the best doctoral thesis assessed over a three year rolling period, with previous recipients being ineligible. The Research Committee of the School of Chemistry will recommend the recipient of the prize each year for approval by the Head of the School. - T
he Research Committee may choose not to recommend a recipient in any year where, in its opinion, no suitable candidate presents. The value of the prize will be $500 or any greater amount determined by the Head of School after consultation with the University of Tasmania Foundation.
