University of Tasmania TASA Sociology Honours Prize (Rule 31)
The organising committee of the 1980 SAANZ Conference has donated the proceeds of the conference to the University. The donor has asked that the gift be used to endow a prize, and has asked that the prize be awarded to the student who obtains the highest overall mark in Honours in Sociology. The Council of the University has agreed to the foundation of a prize of the terms set out in these rules.
Rules
- The amount of $3,996.71, together with any interest from time to time, forms the endowment of a prize to be called the University of Tasmania TASA Sociology Honours Prize.
- The prize will be awarded annually to the student who obtains the highest overall mark in Honours in Sociology.
- The annual value of the prize will be set by the Scholarships Management Committee from time to time, having regard to the income from the endowment, and will include one year’s subscription to the Australian Sociological Association (TASA).
- All student completing the Honours program in Sociology within the schedule set by the faculty are eligible for the prize.
- The winner of the prize will be selected by the Honours Examiners’ meeting, which meeting must include at least one member of TASA. If more than one student scores the highest mark, the prize will be awarded to the student with the highest score for the thesis component. The meeting may decide to share the prize between two or more students.
