The WD Parkinson Prize (Rule 45)
Mr Wilfred Dudley Parkinson, Reader in Geophysics in the Department of Geophysics in the Department of Geology at the time of his retirement in 1984, donated the sum of $1,400 to the University to establish a prize in Geophysics. The University Council accepted that sum and agreed to the foundation of the prize. The terms of the prize are set out in these rules.
Rules
- The sum of $1400, together with any interest from time to time, forms the endowment of the prize to be called The WD Parkinson Prize.
- The prize will be awarded annually to the student who shows the greatest proficiency in Geophysics and Exploration Geophysics, or in any subjects that may replace them in the final undergraduate year. The student must not have previously attempted an examination in these subjects and must have obtained at least a pass with credit in all those subjects.
- The Scholarships Management Committee will set the annual value of the award from time to time, having regard to the income from the endowment.
- Any earlier rules for this prize are revoked.
