Graeme Foster Tasmania University Football Club Scholarship (Rule 65)

 

A number of supporters and past players of the Tasmania University Football Club have generously contributed to a fund to provide scholarships to support talented footballers while they study at the University of Tasmania.

The Academic Senate has agreed to the foundation of an endowed scholarship.  These are the rules of the scholarship.

Rules
  1. The amount of $42,000 donated by supporters and past players of the Tasmania University Football Club, together with a matching amount provided by the University Foundation, and any interest from time to time, forms the endowment of a scholarship to be called the “Graeme Foster Tasmania University Football Club Scholarship”.
  2. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is eligible to enrol or has already enrolled in any course at the University of Tasmania who has demonstrated a commitment to the sport of Australian Rules Football and is prepared to play for the Tasmania University Football Club (TUFC) during the period of the scholarship".
  3. A selection committee consisting of:
    • the President of the Tasmania University Football Club or nominee
    • the Patron of the Tasmania University Football Club or nomine
    • a nominee of the Vice-Chancellor will award the scholarship
  4. The award is tenable for one year, subject to the student - 
    • continuing to study in a course at the University of Tasman
    • and making a commitment to play for the TUFC
  5. The selection committee, having regard to the terms of the endowment, will set the detailed selection criteria.  However, the committee will give preference to a student who has achieved in the top quartile in the TCE, or at a standard deemed equivalent by the selection committee.
  6. The selection committee may terminate the student’s award if it considers the student’s progress and commitment to be unsatisfactory.
  7. The value of the award will be determined by the selection committee from time to time having regard to the income from the endowment.
  8. The Scholarships Management Committee will determine all other matters concerning the scholarship, including advertising, application procedures, and the method and time of payment
  9. The selection committee will report annually to Academic Senate on offers made and the progress of candidates receiving the award.
