Judith Liauw Postgraduate Fellowship (Rule 141)

Judith Liauw lived and worked in the North-West of Tasmania but was at the forefront of modern community pharmacy in Australia. She was an intelligent, gracious and committed woman who made an enduring contribution to pharmacy and the broader health system nationally.

Until just before her death in July 2010 she was both Branch President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia - Tasmanian Branch and a National Councillor of the Guild. She was only the third woman to be made an honorary life member of that Guild.

Judith had over 30 years experience in community pharmacy - 20 years of these as a community pharmacy owner. She was a strong supporter of the UTAS School of Pharmacy and regularly hosted students and interns for their rural placements in her Ulverstone pharmacy.

To recognise her commitment to the critical role played by rural pharmacists in our health system the Pharmacy Guild of Australia - Tasmanian Branch, has endowed an annual fellowship in Judith's name to support a female graduate of the School undertake their internship placement at a rural or regional location in Tasmania.
