Tasmania National Undergraduate Scholarships (Rule 20)
Rules
- There is established a committee appointed by the Vice-Chancellor to be called the Tasmania Scholarships Management Committee.
- The committee will administer the Tasmania National Undergraduate Scholarships. In doing so the committee must act in accordance with its operational rules.
- The scholarships will be awarded for undergraduate study leading to the award of a bachelor degree or combined bachelor degree, or honours degree, and will be awarded on the basis of academic merit within categories prescribed by the committee.
- A scholarship is tenable for the minimum time necessary to complete the course for which the student is enrolled, but not exceeding 4 years. The student must be enrolled full time, except in special circumstances with the approval of the committee.
- The committee may terminate the student’s award, or suspend it for one year, if it considers the student’s progress in any year to be unsatisfactory. If the award is suspended, the committee may re-award the scholarship to the same student after that year, if it considers that the student’s academic record in that year justifies that action.
- The detailed selection criteria will be set by the committee, having regard to any conditions imposed by the donor of any scholarship or class of scholarship.
- All other matters concerning the scholarships, including the frequency and number of awards offered, the value of each award, advertising, application procedures, and the method and time of payment will be determined by the committee.
- The committee will report annually to Academic Senate and Council on all substantive matters determined, and in particular on offers made and the progress of candidates receiving the scholarships. It must also report to Academic Senate and Council on any major changes to its operational rules.
