Percy Ash Scholarship (Rule 44)
The late Percy Ash, of Tasmania, by his Will bequeathed the sum of $2000 to the University of Tasmania to be applied for the advancement of the study of Chemistry. The Council of the University accepted that sum and agreed to establish a scholarship in memory of Mr Ash. The terms and conditions of that scholarship are set out in these rules.
Rules
- The sum of $2000, together with any interest from time to time, forms the endowment of a scholarship to be called the Percy Ash Scholarship.
- The scholarship will be awarded to the best 2nd-year Chemistry student who –
- is enrolled as a full-time student and passes all the subjects in which they are enrolled in that year
- indicates their intention of enrolling in a major in Chemistry at the University of Tasmania.
- If 2 or more students have shown equal proficiency for the award, the Scholarships Management Committee may take into account the results obtained by those students in their other subjects.
- The Scholarships Management Committee from time to time will set the annual value of the scholarship, having regard to the income from the endowment.
- Any earlier rules for this scholarship are revoked
