Percy Ash Scholarship (Rule 44)

The late Percy Ash, of Tasmania, by his Will bequeathed the sum of $2000 to the University of Tasmania to be applied for the advancement of the study of Chemistry. The Council of the University accepted that sum and agreed to establish a scholarship in memory of Mr Ash. The terms and conditions of that scholarship are set out in these rules.

Rules
  1. The sum of $2000, together with any interest from time to time, forms the endowment of a scholarship to be called the Percy Ash Scholarship.
  2. The scholarship will be awarded to the best 2nd-year Chemistry student who –
    • is enrolled as a full-time student and passes all the subjects in which they are enrolled in that year
    • indicates their intention of enrolling in a major in Chemistry at the University of Tasmania.
  3. If 2 or more students have shown equal proficiency for the award, the Scholarships Management Committee may take into account the results obtained by those students in their other subjects.
  4. The Scholarships Management Committee from time to time will set the annual value of the scholarship, having regard to the income from the endowment.
  5. Any earlier rules for this scholarship are revoked
