What is an Academic Misconduct Committee?
An Academic Misconduct Committee is made up of three members:
- the Chair (who is an academic staff member and also a lawyer);
- an academic staff member;
- a student member.
None of the Academic Misconduct Committee members will have any previous knowledge of your matter and will be from a different School, and where possible, from a different Faculty to you.
The Academic Misconduct Committee hears matters referred by Heads of School.
The Academic Misconduct Committee will interview both you and the relevant School staff (or exams staff if the allegation relates to exam cheating).
The Academic Misconduct Committee has a wider range of penalties available to it than a Head of School and is able to exclude students from the University.
