The Vice-Chancellor has approved the Insurance Policy.
The Vice-Chancellor has approved the new Research Ethics Policy, and Responsible Conduct of Research Policy. These policies were developed by the Australian Code Steering Committee (chaired by Professor Paddy Nixon, Deputy Vice-Chancellor [Research]) to ensure the University of Tasmania complies with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
The General Purchasing Guidelines, Petty Cash Custodian Guidelines, Business Card Guidelines and Invoice Payment Guidelines have been approved.
The reviewed Space Management Policy and Space Allocation Guidelines have been approved. The new WHS Responsibilities Policy has been approved. The reviewed Control of Fraud and Corruption Policy has been approved, and the new Fraud and Corruption Investigation Procedure has been approved.
The Academic Promotions Policy and Academic Promotions Procedure have been amended.
University Council approved a number of policy recommendations, including:
- amendments to the University By-Laws 1993;
- the Quality Management Policy and Quality Management Framework Governance Level Principle; and
- the Social Media Guidelines (and amended Web Policy).
In addition, the Vice-Chancellor approved the Student Reservist, Emergency Services, Elite Athletes and Performers Support Policy and associated Procedure.
The Safe to Practise Policy and Safe to Practise Procedure, developed by Mike Spurr (Support and Equity Unit) in conjunction with the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Working Party under the auspices of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students and Education), have been finalised. The Policy has been approved by the Vice-Chancellor, and the Procedure has been approved by the Responsible Officer (Pro Vice-Chancellor [Students and Education]).
Following a comprehensive review of the Operational Policy Development and Review Policy, Procedure and associated Manual, a new Policy Development and Review Policy has been approved by the Vice-Chancellor, and the associated Policy Development and Review Procedure and Policy Development and Review Guideline have been approved by the Responsible Officer (the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Provost).
The University of Tasmania Radiation Safety Policy has been approved (August, 2010).
The Breastfeeding Policy has been reviewed. A minor amendment was made (at clause 6.4), and the amendment has now been approved by the Director, Governance and Legal.
Three Human Resources policy documents have been reviewed.
University Council (June, 2010) has approved key components of the ICT Security Framework, including the ICT Security Policy, ICT Services and Facilities Use Policy and ICT Access Control Policy. This follows the recent approval of all ICT Security Framework Procedures by the Policy Maker (Director, Information Technology Resources John Parry).
University of Tasmania Council has approved (June, 2010) the University Entities Governance Framework Policy. This policy provides a comprehensive framework for the effective governance of all University of Tasmania entities.
