University Council approved a number of policy recommendations, including:
- amendments to the University By-Laws 1993;
- the Quality Management Policy and Quality Management Framework Governance Level Principle; and
- the Social Media Guidelines (and amended Web Policy).
In addition, the Vice-Chancellor approved the Student Reservist, Emergency Services, Elite Athletes and Performers Support Policy and associated Procedure.

SMOKE-FREE PROVISIONS UNDER AMENDED UNIVERSITY BY-LAW

QUALITY MANAGEMENT POLICY AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK GLP
University Council approved the Quality Management Framework Governance Level Principle, and Quality Management Policy, developed by the Quality Committee. SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES
University Council approved the Social Media Guidelines, developed by Julie-Ann Hart and Melanie Pittard of the Web Services Operations Group. University Council also approved amendments to the Web Policy to reflect the introduction of the Social Media Guidelines.

STUDENT RESERVIST, EMERGENCY SERVICES, ELITE ATHLETES AND PERFORMERS SUPPORT POLICY
The Vice-Chancellor approved the Student Reservist, Emergency Services, Elite Athletes and Performers Support Policy, and the Responsible Officer, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students and Education) approved the Student Reservist, Emergency Services, Elite Athletes and Performers Support Procedure. These documents were developed by Sara Franz, Assistant Director, Student and Academic Administration.
The Policy and Procedure were developed to ensure that students who are members of the Australian Defence Reserves, emergency services or who are elite athletes or performers are not disadvantaged academically or financially as a consequence of their required participation in these activities/fields. Policy provisions apply to all undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degrees by research students who are members of the Australian Defence Force Reserves, Volunteer Emergency Service Organisations and those who are defined as elite athletes or performers.
