University Council (June, 2010) has approved key components of the ICT Security Framework, including the ICT Security Policy, ICT Services and Facilities Use Policy and ICT Access Control Policy. This follows the recent approval of all ICT Security Framework Procedures by the Policy Maker (Director, Information Technology Resources John Parry).
The ICT Security Framework is a collection of Policies and Procedures developed to ensure the security and integrity of ICT Services and Facilities at the University of Tasmania, and define the rights and responsibilities of University members in accessing ICT Services and Facilities.
The ICT Security Framework consists of:
o Secure Disposal of ICT Equipment Procedure
o Data Backup and Restoration Procedure
o ICT Physical Security Procedure
o ICT Systems Documentation Procedure
ICT Services and Facilities Use Policy
o Blacklisting Procedure
o Persons Authorised to Use ICT Services and Facilities Use Agreement
o User Password Procedure
o ICT Systems Administrative Password Procedure
o External Access Procedure
The objectives of the ICT Security Framework are to:
Staff and students should be aware that the key concepts of the ICT Security Framework, as applied to University members, are contained in the ICT Services and Facilities Use Policy. This Policy describes the conditions of use of all University of Tasmania ICT Services and Facilities and stipulates that usage must be legal, ethical, and appropriate. Staff and students are advised to consult this Policy to familiarise themselves with access conditions to University ICT Services and Facilities.
