Conference 28-29 January 2010
Welcome to the website for the 2010 Public Policy Network Conference.
We are delighted to be hosting the Conference in Hobart at the Hobart Function Conference Centre. We have branded the conference Hobart – Experience the Difference
for the quality, comfort, fine wine, food, natural environment and heritage that will be on offer. Bring your family and stay on for some classic Tasmanian experiences – nearby and further afield. We are looking forward to two days of debate and discussion in the friendly and collegial atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the PPN.
The Public Policy Network is an informal network of Australian public policy scholars that meets annually to discuss public policy research, teaching and cognate issues. Our conferences are run in workshop style as a single stream to facilitate discussion of issues across sessions and papers. Our focus is on policy theory and Australian and New Zealand policy issues as well as broader public policy research that can inform policy practice.
The 2010 Conference is being hosted by the School of Government on 28-29 January. This year the inaugural Cocktail Reception will be held on Wednesday 27 January, 5.00-7.00pm, at the Henry Jones Art Hotel with words of welcome from Rhys Edwards, Secretary of Premier and Cabinet. The conference dinner will also be held at the Henry Jones Art Hotel on Thursday 28 January at 7.00pm, with an address by Margaret Reynolds. As agreed at the last conference, the first day of the 2010 conference is set aside for papers on Policy Making in Turbulent Times. Papers on any other public policy issue are most welcome for the second day of the conference.
Update:
Professor Rod Rhodes will deliver the conference keynote lecture:
Protocols Rituals and Managing Uncertainty.
