The Journalism suite of courses are an exciting and popular study choice for postgraduate students, and are very professionally focused. The courses will provide the practical skills of journalistic writing, as well as looking at news language and grammar. Prior knowledge in journalism is not assumed.
Throughout the course, there are opportunities to write for a variety of media, in addition to practical skills, such as using digital cameras, audio technology and non-liner editing. There is also the advantage gaining valuable experience, by working in the newsroom of EDGE radio, putting together radio news bulletins.
As a part of the course, journalists working across the industry will be brought in, allowing for discursive and interactive learning opportunities. In addition to this (through the unit of Radio Documentary), students will work with an industry professional to craft high-quality scripts and documentary packages, with a view to the work being broadcast.
