The Town & Gown procession of graduands and staff through city streets is a special feature of the December graduations in Hobart.
The procession is held before the 3.00pm ceremony only, but all candidates graduating in Hobart are invited to participate.
If your ceremony is at 3.00pm please assemble on the west side of the rose garden near Domain House, Queens Domain before 2.00pm. Arrival by 1.30pm is strongly recommended. There will be ushers to assist and direct you.
If you are not participating in the 3.00pm ceremony but you wish to take part in the procession, assemble on the east side of the rose garden before 2.00pm. There will be ushers to assist and direct you. You will process behind the 3.00 pm graduands and will be dismissed at the Federation Concert Hall.
If you are an academic participating in the Town & Gown procession, please assemble in the School of Nursing and Midwifery building located at the Domain.
From 2.00-2.25pm graduands and staff will be briefed and assembled in order for the processsion by the University staff.
At 2.30pm the procession, with police escort and band, will move from the rose garden, then proceed through the pedestrian underpass at the Brooker Highway roundabout and along Liverpool and Campbell Streets to arrive at the Federation Concert Hall.
Once you are seated in the Federation Concert Hall, there will be a brief rehearsal by University staff.
If you choose not to process please be seated at the Federation Concert Hall by 2.15pm.
If the weather is inclement, check the Graduation website home page to find out if the event has been cancelled. If it has been cancelled proceed directly to the Federation Concert Hall and be seated by 2.30pm.
