This course includes study at the Tasmanian Polytechnic, or an equivalent institution, and at the University of Tasmania. Students who complete the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Managememnt from the Tasmanian Polytechnic, or an equivalent qualification, articulate into the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality Management) which is offered by the Faculty of Business at the University of Tasmania. During their 12 months at the University of Tasmania the final 10 units towards the degree are completed.
Admission & Prerequisites
Possession of the University's basic admission requirements. The Tasmanian Polytechnic Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or an equivalent award as accepted by the Course Coordinator and/or by the Faculty of Business, is also required.
Applicants who have not completed the Tasmanian Polytechnic Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management or a qualification which is deemed to be equivalent, will be counselled as to the program of study that they would need to follow in order to undertake the Bachelor of Business Administration (HospMgmt). Credit/advanced standing for prior studies will be determined on application.

English language skills will also need to be verified. International students must provide an IELTS score with an overall band of 6 and no band less than 5.5; or a TOEFL score of 550 with a Test of Written English score of no less than 4.5. The course is designed to produce graduates with a sound knowledge of the fundamental principles and concepts of management, a familiarity with significant literature in the field and the ability to review, consolidate, extend and apply the knowledge and techniques to the hospitality management sector. It seeks to produce graduates with knowledge, skills and with an understanding of best practice in hospitality management, who recognise the value of research, critical thinking and effective communication. Graduates develop professional skills in such areas as interpersonal communication, services management, team work, report writing and problem-solving techniques. The course provides holders of aTasmanian Polytechnic Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent qualification with the opportunity to gain a professional university degree in hospitality management.
Articulation to/from Course
Applicants who have completed theTasmanian Polytechnic Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management will be granted credit/advanced standing for fourteen units towards the Bachelor of Business Administration (HospMgmt) degree. Candidates with an equivalent award will also be considered on an individual basis and, following the advice from the Course Coordinator and the Faculty,
may be granted credit/advanced standing of up to a maximum of 14 units.
