2013 EDT105 Design for Learning Spaces: Creativity and Teaching Materials

In this unit students will examine the principles and elements of design and apply this information to the design of learning spaces and teaching materials. The physiological and psychological impact of colour will be discussed in relation to specifying suitable colours for learning spaces and teaching aids. The design of wall displays and others teaching aids will be considered in relation to the way in which human visual system functions. Creativity and strategies for teachers to foster creativity will be a focus of the unit.

WEIGHT: 12.5%

ASSESSMENT: The design of prototypes of colour schemes and teaching aids for learning spaces (40%) an analysis of the principles and elements of design in relation to displays (30%) and a class presentation detailing the visual effectiveness of extant teaching materials (30%).

TEACHING PATTERN: 1 x 3 hour tutorial (13 weeks). Online: Fully on-line with weekly readings and tasks
