This unit analyses the role of the media as a cultural resource, and as a 'barometer' of social mores and concerns. It explores the historical, industrial and cultural contexts of a broad range of media examples, which may include lifestyle magazines, food media, public health communication and other forms of mainstream media, and analyses the ways that media texts 'speak to' their audiences.
