Visual communication designers of the future will need to possess extensive expertise and a clear, incisive quality of thinking that will enable them to meet evolving cultural and social networks. As new technologies are continually developed, designers play a key role in their adoption, application and dissemination; there are no limits to the number of fields to which designers contribute. The course equips students with a range of core research and technical skills and adaptive creative approaches to prepare them for the challenges that lie ahead in this rapidly evolving field.

Admission & Prerequisites
To qualify for admission, applicants must demonstrate the potential to successfully undertake the Master of Visual Communication..
Successful applicants will be expected to have completed an undergraduate degree in visual communication or visual art, or in a cognate discipline, with credit or above results in their final year of major.
A person, who possesses such other qualifications and professional experience deemed by the Faculty to provide an adequate preparation for study equivalent to that provided for by an undergraduate degree, may be admitted to the course.
Upon admission into the course students may apply for credit for previous study.

This proposal should be in two parts:
Firstly give a brief background to your particular interests and ideas, focusing on your recent artwork. Secondly tell us what you propose doing, how you intend to do it, and why, in your preferred postgraduate coursework program. Give us a clear idea of what medium/media you intend to employ in the realisation of this project.
Your proposal should be not more than one A4 page. Your initial proposal forms the basis of your project, to be discussed and reworked in consultation with your supervisor early in the program.

The aim of the Master of Visual Communication is to offer Graphic Designers a postgraduate professional practice award that directly relates to the contemporary workplace circumstances of the Design industry.
Career outcomes for graduates of the Master of Visual Communication include specialisations in graphic design, electronic/multimedia design, print media, packaging design, product design, computer games, advertising, illustration design, and aspects of film, television, music and theatre design.
The Master of Visual Communication program objectives are to:
enhance students' Visual Communication knowledge and competency within a professional context;
Familiarise students with the professional Graphic Design/Visual Communication industry;
Refine and extend students' creative problem solving skills through projects directly related to industry;
Learn and practise correct occupational health and safety procedures applicable to sole owner/operator design businesses and group workplace environments;
Articulation to/from Course
Students who have graduated with a BFA(Hons) award at this University may, at the discretion of the Faculty, be awarded up to 50% (equal to one-third of the total award) towards the MVC. Credit may be given, at the discretion of the Faculty, for achievements by students in other awards and professional practice areas at equivalent level.
Students who have passed appropriate units towards the Master of Fine Art and Design, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma in Art, Design and Environment, and Master of Art, Design and Environment will be entitled to transfer to the Master of Visual Communication with full equivalent credit.
