This four-year full-time combined degree of Bachelor of Information Systems
K3H and Bachelor of Teaching

Admission & Prerequisites
As for the Bachelor of Information Systems and Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary). Applicants need to note that they may only study certain areas if they satisfy the prerequisite for that unit at the TCE level.
For the BIS component: Students who have completed a Diploma of Business in a business discipline or the Diploma in Information Technology from a Tasmanian Institute of TAFE, and have been admitted to the course,
may receive creditfor up to six (6) units towards the degree. Students completing an Advanced Diploma in a related discipline
may receive creditfor up to ten units towards the degree. Depending on the course of study and the majors chosen, students may not be able to use all of the credit that has been granted, for example, credit for unspecified electives. The status of individual units is determined at the time of offer.
Applicants wishing to obtain credit for study already undertaken within another faculty, or an Australian or overseas tertiary institution should consult the Admission Guide for information on procedure.
In the case of international students, credit for previous study will be determined on application. English language skills will also need to be verified. International students must provide an IELTS score with an overall Band of 6 and no band less than 5.5; or a TOEFL score of 550 with a Test of Written English score of no less than 4.5. The test must not be more than 24 months old.
The objectives of the combined degree are the combination of the objectives of the two component degrees, Bachelor of Information Systems and Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary). In addition, the course aims to qualify students for employment as teachers in information technology and other areas that have difficulty attracting qualified graduates.
Successful completion of this course should make students eligible for employment as information technology teachers. Please note that a second teaching specialisation is obtained with this course.
Articulation to/from Course
Credit for relevant units will be given to transferring students. Students will not be able to articulate into the BTeach if they withdraw from the BIS. Students will be able to articulate fully into the BIS degree without any time or load penalty. The BIS-BTeach does not articulate with any other courses.
