Partners in Health is a strategic partnership between the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Tasmania and the University of Tasmania (UTAS) Faculty of Health Science.
This partnership arrangement is unique in Australia and was formed in 1998 because the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Tasmania and the University of Tasmania (UTAS) Faculty of Health Science understood the importance of developing and maintaining a strong partnership which would contribute to the strategic objectives of both organisations in terms of health workforce, health research and health education.
The fundamental Principle of the Partnership is to work together to contribute to:
The health and well being of the people of Tasmania through workforce education and development, quality service delivery and health research
The Partners have demonstrated their collective commitment to this unique partnership since 1998.
The partnership between the two organisations is formalised through the Statement of Mutual Intent 2003 (PDF 70KB) which is a specific agreement between the University of Tasmania Faculty of Health Science and the Department of Health and Human Services.
