Health Box Stories Project

The Health Box Stories Project is taking place at Hobart Library (located at 91 Murray Street, Hobart, TAS 7000) from 13-17 August, as a part of Science Week 2018.

The Health Box will be open each day from 9.30am-1.30pm to allow members of the public to enter and record a 5-6 minute health story.

Recordings will then be analysed and edited to produce a series of publically-accessible educational podcasts.

The aim of the project is to generate a community discussion and motivation to improve health outcomes.

The background to the project draws upon a number of important behavioural concepts such as an individual’s stage of change, interpersonal relationships, community relationships and planned behaviours.

It is hoped that these unique, valuable and individual insights can be used to educate and empower on an individual, community and statewide level.

The project spans a multitude of disciplines within the University of Tasmania including the School of Health Sciences, the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, Social Sciences (Journalism, Media and Communications and the School of Technology, Environments and Design – with each discipline  bringing  a unique skillset to the project.

The project has been enthusiastically supported by ‘Inspiring Australia’ and the ‘Tasmanian Science Week Coordination Committee.’

Any interested students or staff are encouraged to attend.
