Student hospital mattress innovation goes straight to national pitching finals

A team of University of Tasmania medical and engineering students have taken out ‘Best Team and People’s Choice’ accolades at the recent inaugural University of Tasmania entrepreneurial pitching competition, UPitch.

Comprising Jane Chen, Sidonie Matthew and Simone Saville, the Lateroll team created an innovative mattress transferring system, aimed at improving the efficiency and safety of surgical patient transfer.

UPitch is aimed at giving people the opportunity to test drive their innovation or creation, gain support and compete to make their ideas a reality.

As part of their winning prize, Lateroll will now go on to represent Tasmania in Sydney’s pitch event 'Pitch for a Million’ on December 1.

Pitch for a Million is global event with over 600 start-ups internationally competing for the grand prize of $1 million dollars in investments.
