"The opportunity to work alongside Tasmanian paramedics confirmed for me that a career in Paramedicine was something that I would enjoy."
- Jared Baker, current student.
Bachelor of Paramedic Practice
After 12 years in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) I decided to undertake the Bachelor of Paramedic Practice because I felt that I was ready for a change and I wanted to challenge myself. The University of Tasmania was very appealing because it allowed me to move back to Tasmania with my two sons.
Although I had no previous experience in out-of-hospital care; the unpredictable nature of paramedicine and an interest in health, has motivated me to undertake studies at the University of Tasmania.
My favourite unit in the course so far has been Practical Placement. The opportunity to work alongside Tasmanian paramedics confirmed for me that a career in Paramedicine is something that I would enjoy.
My highlight of studying at the University of Tasmania has been discovering my capabilities as a student. I know I have made the right decision to study and I am enjoying the challenge as much as I hoped I would. My advice to future students is to stay organised and plan each semester. Planning is an important part of the university experience and is the best way to help stay on top of it all.
