Master of Psychology (Clinical)

I chose to study the Master of Psychology (Clinical) because I wanted to do clinical psychology, work in a hospital setting or in a private practice and work with a wide range of clients. I decided to complete my postgraduate studies at the University of Tasmania because I liked the course structure of the postgraduate clinical program, and because the University has a great reputation as an institution.

I believe that the knowledge and experience I gained from being a caseworker will help me with my studies, especially when working with clients from diverse backgrounds during placements. Working as a guest speaker has also helped me gain a full understanding of cognitive-behavioural therapy which underpins most of the units in my course.

I have made lots of friends at uni and have learnt so much in a short amount of time about being a Clinical Psychologist including what's required to be an ethical and professional psychologist.

My favourite part of the Master of Psychology (Clinical) has been the placements because of the practical experience you get, and the ability to put what you've learnt into practice. The placement at the University Psychology Clinic is very good because it is a very supportive learning environment.

My advice for anyone considering studying this course is to be very organised and be prepared to work hard because it's a full on course, but very rewarding at the same time.
