The virtual Tasmanian Academic Health Sciences Precinct – or vTAHSP – was founded in 2013.
Our purpose is to unite the Tasmanian hospitals, health organisations, research institutes and the university to jointly sponsor and support the translation of the latest medical discoveries into clinical service delivery and improved health of Tasmanians. This is based on the three pillars of Academic Health Science Centres – excellence in research, education and clinical services.
We aim to integrate medical research, teaching and patient care relating to our states most significant health conditions to produce direct benefits for patients and improve the overall health outcomes of our community.
Our virtual precinct comprises
- three Tasmanian Health Organisations
- Department of Health and Human Services
- Tasmanian Medicare Local
- Menzies Research Institute
- University of Tasmania
By working together, we aim to deliver the latest health discoveries to the Tasmanian community and to build and develop Tasmania’s reputation as a leader in health and medical research. We aim to deliver greater benefits for the community by working together, rather than separately.
