The University of Tasmania is committed to supporting its employees to improve their health and wellbeing.
HealthyU (formerly known as Active UTAS) is a holistic program designed to improve the health and wellbeing of University of Tasmania employees through the provision of a range of innovative and inclusive measures that target; participation in physical activity, policy development, nutrition and hydration, mental health and drugs and alcohol.
HealthyU seeks to overcome some of the barriers to participation in positive health and wellbeing opportunities, foster change in the workplace and encourages staff to make a commitment to their health on a daily basis.
The program includes a range of physical activity and educational workshop sessions at various times and locations in Hobart (HBT), Launceston (LTN), Cradle Coast (CC), Rozelle and Darlinghurst (NSW) campuses in a social group environment that not only improves health and wellbeing but cohesion, productivity and morale in the workplace. The majority of the day to day sessions are FREE, however, some costs may be involved with special events. It is recommended to mention you are a beginner to the instructor if you are new to the activity so the instructor can assist you more closely.

"I’d like to thank Active UTAS for the wonderful programs available to UTAS Staff. I participated in the Swim/Stroke Development Course at AMC with Mel recently and found it to be very beneficial. Mel was a fantastic instructor and the tips and instruction she provided was so valuable.
"I would recommend the Cognitive Change Program to anyone who wants to make improvements in their health and wellbeing, whether it is to lose weight, to improve diet, or increase exercise, flexibility or fitness. But be prepared- the more you put in to it, the more you will get out of it. "
