Dr. Roy is an authority in the Indian subcontinent, with special reference to Islam and the Muslims, whose culture he has analysed in The Islamic Syncretistic Tradition in Bengal, published by the Princeton University Press, USA. His most recent publication has been Islam in South Asia: A Regional Perspective, New Delhi, South Asia Publishers, 1996.
