Dr Tristram has a background as a professional diagnostic medical microbiologist within the pathology industry in various Australian states. He joined the University of Tasmania's Faculty of Health in 1995.
Dr Tristram teaches aspects of medical microbiology and infectious diseases in General and Medical Microbiology (CXA241), Medical Microbiology A (CXA342), Medical Microbiology B (CXA343), Fundamentals of Bioscience (CXA107) and Bioscience for Nursing (CXA205).
Dr Tristam's special research interests are, Antimicrobial Resistance, particularly in Heamophilus influenzae and the role of H. influenzae in chronic respiratory infections such as Cystic Fibrosis and COPD.
