A randomised double blind, placebo controlled, crossover designed study will be conducted to determine if a caffeine mouth rinse, without ingestion, will improve a 40km cycling time trial performance. If successful this study may further indicate that the predominant mechanism responsible for the ergogenic effect of caffeine is central nervous system related.
