Dr Dale Kunde is a Clinical Biochemist with many years' experience in diagnostic pathology laboratories. Dr Kunde completed his PhD in 2010 investigating the molecular expression of tachykinin and related receptors and has since expanded his research focus into genomics.
Dr Kunde currently works as a Lecturer in Clinical Biochemistry within the Bachelor of Biomedical Science in the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Health.
Dr Kunde's primary teaching area is within the Bachelor of Biomedical Science, where he coordinates the Clinical Biochemistry discipline. He teaches the units Clinical Chemistry 1 (CXA251), Clinical Chemistry 2 (CXA352), Endocrinology (CXA353) as well as components of the professional placement units. His continuing pedagogical interest is in developing learning strategies that maintain professional currency and contextualise the undergraduate experience in terms of the modern laboratory medicine discipline.Dr Kunde is currently the tertiary education representative on the Education Committee of the Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists, a member of the Fellowship assessment board for Clinical Chemistry in the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists, as well as a member of the Molecular Biology Curriculum Committee of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry.
Dr Kunde is a member of the Biomedical Science Research Cluster within the School of Health Sciences with research projects in Molecular Diagnostics and Infection, Cell Stress, inflammation and Immunity and Vanilloid in Health and Disease research groups. His main research focus is in genetic characterisation and differentiation of Haemophilus species, microbiome influences on the initiation and progression of inflammatory bowel disease and in the molecular characterisation of immunological and ER stress markers in inflammatory disease.
