Dr Robert Clarke (English)

Book clubs are, and for centuries have been, popular cultural activities both for the entertainment they give their members and for the way they provide a space of discussion and reflection. In this lecture Dr Robert Clarke considers some of the intriguing insights emerging from research on book clubs and ‘social reading’. If you belong to a book club, always wanted to join one, or if you are simply interested in the importance of reading in our culture, then this lecture is sure to be for you.
