Week 3: History from 1940-1959

Lecture 1: The Evolution of Australia's Antarctic Policy, 1901- 1959 (Dr Rob Hall)
This lecture outlines Australia's political, economic and scientific interests that underpinned its policy toward Antarctica from the heroic age of the early 1900s through to its significant role in the negotiation of the Antarctic Treaty during the 1950s.

Lecture 2 & 3: The Science Liason Librarian takes you on a guided tour of the information sources in the science library and explains the fine art of referencing. You might think you know it all but take it from us - we have seen the assignments and we know you don't! Well worth it for those extra few marks in assignments.

Tutorial: History and Politics "Interpretation of History" (Assoc/Prof Marcus Haward/Dr Rob Hall)
This online tutorial examines several key considerations concerning the contribution that historians and political scientists can and do make toward understanding Antarctic affairs and includes a discussion on how history is interpreted according to the viewpoint of the historian.
