Lecture 1: The planning, equipment, organization and running of remote field programs in Antarctica (Mr Rod Ledingham)
Includes information on the preparation of field programs from the initial committee stage through the funding, purchase of equipment, recruiting support staff and the running of small bases. Also on accommodation, transport methods (air and ground) sledges, tents, and survival equipment.
Lecture 2: Antarctica and Global Change Part I (Dr Will Howard and panel)
A discussion on the role of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean in global climate change. Is climate change really happening? Are humans contributing to it? This session looks at some of the issues involved and whether our efforts to steady the changes can really work. Lecture 3: Exam Revision (/Prof Andrew McMinn)
