Location
Tasmania is located in the south-eastern region of Australia. It is close by air to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. The University of Tasmania has two main campuses in Tasmania – Hobart and Launceston - and a campus in Sydney (for the Bachelor of Nursing (Fast-Track). The Tasmanian campuses are 200 kilometres apart, so care should be taken in selecting the course and campus.
The Tasmanian campuses are within walking or cycling distance of city centres, local shopping centres and services; and regular bus services operate to and from the campuses.
Tasmania has no direct international flights and students are advised to fly to Melbourne or Sydney and change to domestic connections.
Tasmania is in the same time zone as
Sydney and Melbourne. Daylight saving in Tasmania commences at 2 am on
the first Sunday in October each year, and clocks are put forward by one hour at this time. It concludes at 2 am on the first Sunday in April the following year.

A recent survey of our international students found that it took
about the same time to find part-time work in Tasmania as it does in
Melbourne or Sydney. Jobs can be found in hospitality (Tasmania is a
popular tourist destination), but also in commerce and industry and in
harvest work on high-value agricultural enterprises.
International students with jobs live better in Tasmania, because while the pay is similar, the cost of living is lower.
